The Orleans PTCA is looking for nominations for this year's recipient for the Thea Collier Swartz Award, recognizing outstanding contributions to the Orleans Village community. Throughout our village’s history, community members have volunteered countless hours to improve the quality of life in Orleans. The success of any community is built upon the efforts of individuals committed to serving their community with the desire to make it a better place to live, work, and play. Thea Collier Swartz played a vital role in our community by serving on the Orleans Elementary school board for 15 years. She also volunteered in a variety of roles, including as a reader each year and as a chaperone when needed. Her dedication and commitment to the betterment of Orleans never went unnoticed. The Thea Collier Swartz Award recognizes members of the community who, like Thea, go above and beyond the call of duty to support and strengthen the greater Orleans community. Guidelines and Eligibility: - The Thea Collier Swartz Award will be given to someone who: - Goes above and beyond the call of duty through initiatives and/or is actively involved in the improvement of the community; - Lives to serve others not for recognition but simply to help others; - Genuinely cares about making sure that other people’s highest priority needs are being served.
