Team Spirit Award

Lake Region students participated in Vermont State University's Bridge Building contest on VTSU's Randolph campus Thursday, March 12th. This annual contest challenges teams of 1-6 students to build bridges before arriving. Students can only use popsicle sticks, Elmer's glue, toothpicks, and dental floss in their construction of bridges that are then tested. Bridges are judged, according to VTSU, on "aesthetics and originality of design, presentation, ultimate load carrying capacity, strength-to-weight ratio, and predicted failure point." Prizes are awarded in several categories. Lake Region's Team I was awarded the School Spirit Award. Lake Region's Team 2 placed 11th of 22 schools competing. Students worked for just two weeks before the competition with the help of Mr. Myrenton, who said, "both our bridge-building teams worked really hard in non-ideal conditions and accomplished quite a bit." Mr. Myrenton adds that "We're all excited to try again next year." Congratulations, Rangers, on successfully completing this new adventure. Please continue scrolling for more photos.
