National Honor Society Induction: New Members Take the Oath

The Donna Underwood Chapter of the National Honor Society at Lake Region celebrated the induction of thirteen new members--five seniors and eight juniors--November 18th. Following speeches in which student leaders introduced the four pillars of the National Honor Society--Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character--new members pledged to uphold the purpose of the NHS and to be true to its principles. Mr. Messier delivered the Faculty Address, encouraging students to expect more of themselves. "Tomorrow the real work begins for you," Mr. Messier said, "because now there will be added expectations of you as NHS members...The overall school community will expect more of you. And in my opinion, each of you should expect more of yourselves. If you use the four pillars of the NHS as foundations for decision-making and for how you conduct yourselves, our society will be better. I truly believe in that." New members of the Donna Underwood National Honor Society are Jenssy Almeida-Perez, Danica Booth, Benjamin Choquette, Ethan Gratton-Derbyshire, Emma King, Madeline McCoy, Julianna Pospiech, Mackenzie Quiles, Adeleide Schneider, Jericho Thatcher, Maeda Urie, Nell Urie, and Anna Whittemore. They will join current members Asa Davis, Bianca Davis, Max Demaine, Oscar Forsay, Julia Gardner, Ruby Gardner, Caleb Greenwood, Isabella Hanover, Bailey Ingalls, and Adler Lahar in completing projects in service to the community in the months to come and in serving as examples of excellence in our classrooms. Congratulations to all the newest members of the Donna Underwood Chapter of the National Honor Society.
