ENGLISH DEPARTMENT CONTRACT

ENGLISH DEPARTMENT CONTRACT

has been granted a conditional waiver of the English Department requirement* that 9th and 10th grade English courses each be passed in sequence in order for the next year's English course to be taken (or that junior-senior electives be deferred until spring semester if 9th/10th grade courses are retaken).

Accordingly, he/she will be permitted to take both __________________

and ______________________ for the ___________________ academic year, provided

that the following conditions are met:

1. Student's behavior is not disruptive.

2. Student's attendance is acceptable.

3. Student cuts NO English classes.

4. Student reports for extra help when and as directed to do so by his/her
English teacher.

Violation of the contract will result in the student being removed from the extra English course or courses so that he/she can concentrate on completing the retaken course successfully.

A student retaking English 10 (or English 9 and English 10) must have a passing mid-year average in the course (or courses) in order to take second semester junior-senior electives. This requirement is in force whether or not a student is working with a contract.

*The policy spelled out in this contract applies only to students who have failed a full-year course the previous year. A student who has passed all of a previous year's English courses may "double up" without a contract.
