Post Segregation
Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves, but are they free
yet?
Obvious acts of racism are no longer allowed in the United
States and some people see this as evidence that recism is declining.
Some cite statistics that they say prove racism has declined since the
civil rights movement. There are people, however, who believe that racism
today is more dangerous than it was in the past because it is harder
to observe. Some subtle forms of racism today may include workplace
discrimination, institutional policies and procedures, and deep-seated
racist assumptions ranging from doubts about minorities' intelligence
to the belief that African-Americans are more prone to criminal behavior.
The media is accused of inflating racism by encouraging blacks and whites
to see each other as enemies.
