Lake Region Union High School Art Teacher Stephanie Harper and Barton Academy and Graded School Math Intervention Teacher Heidi Whipple were both recognized at the 2016 University of Vermont Outstanding Teachers Recognition Day on October 18. With the teachers are BAGS Board Chair Kathy White and LRUHS Principal Andre Messier.

Ashley Morrill ran for national FBLA President at the recent National Leadership Conference in Atlanta, Georgia where she spoke in front of more than 12,000 people. Unfortunately, she did not win the election. Grace Miller, on the other hand received the AMERICA award. She is the first Vermont student to ever receive this award. Andrew Parkinson, Nathaniel Slade, and Hannah Brown also attended the event.
The LRUHS Jazz Band participated in the High Note Festival on June 10th in Lake George, NY, and received an "excellent" rating for their performance. After their performance in the morning, the band went to the Great Escape for the afternoon. This was a joint field trip with Amy Newton and the OCSU Jazz Band.
